What’s Your Unique-y Thing?
No turkeys here. I am sure you are tired of seeing turkeys everywhere. So let’s go with unicorns and sardines. A very UNIQUE combination. Not that I suggest you combine the two flavors. But they sort of represent the 2 words that describe you. I am talking more about core feelings and emotions. Think of yourself and your skills as a brand. Like a brand, you bring a unique set of values, skills, and personality to your work. Start thinking of yourself as a brand and you’ll be better prepared to represent yourself like one. Don’t be afraid to be authentic. If your brand doesn’t reflect your authentic values, personality, and voice, you will look and feel exactly the same as everyone else conforming to industry norms. You, do you.

Identify your core values and passions. It’s time for some self-reflection. What qualities do you value most in your work? Perseverance? Creativity? Innovation? This is the core of who you are, your true self. Your first nature, first impulse. It is what you most strongly believe in what you most often choose. I’ve given you a little starter pack of words below. So while you’re being all thankful during your stay at home holiday, pour an adult beverage and cozy up to some thinkin’ time.
Select, choose, dream up some words that describe who you are and what you believe to be true about you. It might take a while to strip away the shoulds and the other societal expectations that surround you. This is very cool once it is complete, so I hope you really do this.
