Are you scared of your branding? I think the thing that scares most people about branding is FOMO. Fear of missing out, on a market, on clients, on the money. So many clients ask me about defining their target market. Usually, their refrain is … I need to appeal to everyone! Welp. Here’s the antidote to that particular fear. You can’t. You can’t appeal to everyone, and secondly, you don’t want to. Finding or defining your particular tribe is the quickest way of making money. If you are connecting to the people who love you, get you, want to have more of your stuff, you are in the sweet spot.

Carving out your mission statement will help you clean up your ideal client avatar. We are so afraid to just choose, thinking it will trap us into not choosing something else. Aha! This is where you need a thought adjustment, you can evolve your brand. ‘Evolve’ is my secret weapon, meaning you get to grow and broaden your perspectives. So choosing an ideal client or market with your mission in mind doesn’t lock you in forever. Pull out your secret evolve weapon and change it when you see that it needs to change.

Consider this, where were you 7 years ago? What did you believe to be true? How has that changed today?

Not a Scary Mission

Figuring out your mission first will lead you to figure out who your ideal client is. A mission is a written statement with your vision in mind. What are the common frustrations your ideal client deals with? What solutions do you offer? What pain points do you solve? Combine your mission with your ideal client and the path should become clearer. The clearer you get about your ideal client and your mission, the clearer your branding and marketing will become. It sharpens and narrows all your indecision into a fine laser point on what to do next. It is a 2-step process, your mission and ideal client definition are 2 of the most important factors in your brand. Once you decide that the rest gets pretty easy. This is your north, your compass.

Answer these questions:

  • What are you bringing to the world?
  • Why you?
  • Why this way?
  • Why now?
  • Why does your organization exist?
  • Why do you do what you do?

Don’t be scared, you can do this.
